By choosing CPVC, the fire installation company saves owners not only $21000 in installation costs, as CPVC will not corrode over time. If galvanized steel pipes are used, corrosion will corrode the interior of the pipeline, causing needle hole leakage.
Once corrosion occurs in the galvanized steel pipe system, it needs to be continuously repaired until it cannot be repaired and must be replaced.
Galvanized steel pipes are also prone to scaling due to minerals dissolved and detached from water adhering to the pipe wall (usually near fittings and corners). As the scale increases, the water flow will be limited or even completely blocked.
In contrast, CPVC pipes can provide lifelong corrosion protection and prevent scaling of the system even in sea breeze/salt mist environments or when the pH value of water fluctuates. Moreover, CPVC itself is not subject to microbial corrosion (MIC). The CPVC design has a lifespan of up to 50 years.
